Yep...all fixed in version 1.02b BETA which is being uploaded now.

Just curious if we will need to start a new game when 1.02 releases?

Nope, but anytime I add new content (such as additional food in Eastwillow) this generally doesn't show up unless you start a new game. All bug fixes, balances and typo corrections will show in your game once you update.

I just got the recipes' list bug, too, with the beta 1.02.
I get it at each try. It is quite anoying because I cannot use the list...
Here are the debug text i get once crashed:
