Extraction problem

Post by Tyranthraxus »

Overjoyed that the Linux version is now with us, but it`s not playing fair.
I extracted the file, set up some menu links, and clicked - then nothing happened!
Think I`ve found the problem, extracting the main file created two further zipped files, called datapak and launchpak. Peeking inside these, made me realise (especially for datapak), that this contained the files that should have been in the currently empty folders
within the game directory (maps, sounds etc...).
I`ve tried extracting these two further zips, but keep coming up against a password request.
Without knowing this, the game data remains locked away from the game itself.
Have I missed something obvious, or was I unlucky enough to download a dud archive?

Well, first of all, those zip files are there, password protected for a reason.
There is no need to unzip them.

Can you try running your game from a console, in order to see if you have any error messages?
Or try to run ldd/ldd32 on the binary to see if you're missing some libs?

Just about to try it under a console.
Seems odd though, the main archive creates the folders that are contained within the hidden zips, almost as if they should be filled with the forbidden goodies.

Thanks Cycy, it`s turned out to be that damn libc dependency, so I`ve joined that thread. Mandriva is stuck at 2,6, might try to find a rep with something closer to 2.11.
