I recently upgraded to linux mint lisa...and then back down again; didn't like it.

Anyway, suddenly when I try to run Eschalon Book II, nothing happens. When I try to run it from the console, I get a "No such file or directory" error. I can even use tab file-name-completion to finish out the command.

I am totally stumped.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Can you post the full error? Probably it's having trouble finding a necessary dynamic library.

Sure:

"bash: ./eschalon_book_2: No such file or directory"

I'm sorry, but that's all there is.

I think I may have found it. I installed the 64-bit version of the os. Trying again with the 32-bit version.

I think you're on the right track, but it's probably not necessary to reinstall. It should be possible to run Eschalon on a 64 bit OS with the right compatibility libraries installed.

Can you run "ldd eschalon_book_2" and post the output?

No problem, I'm just glad you got things working. Maybe some other poor soul with the same problem will find this thread.

Is it possible to get at the chest on the small island that I believe is one map over from where you start. It is concealed just under some trees.

Not really a Linux question, but no, that chest is purely decorative. Ditto for some of the chests in merchant buildings and the treasure room in Hammerlorne.
