Epic Items?

Post by Glossome »

Has anyone else ever seen any Epic items other than the boots or helm (both light armors) and aside from any of the named weapons?

If I'm correct, you're referring to the item quality 'Epic'?
Or are you just referring to really awesome items?
Either way, I saw a few 'epic' weapons in my playthorughs. Never used them though, they were never the same type as my character.

They aren't called Epic, but there are a few items that show up:

Swift leather pants that are 6 armor rating and +2 to dexterity
weapons with +2 in that weapon skill and extra damage (not as good as named weapons with wear rate)

No, these items were definitely prefixed with the word "Epic". I only ever saw them on sale from the Macross Point Weapon/Armor trader. Like other magical/rare items, they had a glowy outline, but it was kind of a pinkish/rose (as opposed to blue for moderate and purple for rare). They both came in different material levels. I know I saw Reptile Hide, Dragonskin, Ancient Dragonskin for the boots, and I think I remember seeing Spun Adamantium for the cap. They gave pretty nice bonuses, too. The cap was called something like "Epic Intellectus Dragonskin Cap" (or something along those lines ... I'll have to check when I get home). But the bonuses were (I believe) +4 Concentration, +4 Perception and +4 something else. Damn. I'll post again with details in about an hour.

Yeah, I was close:

Epic Intellectus Dragon Skin Skullcap
Category: Light Armor
Base Armor Rating: 7
+4 Intelligence
+4 Wisdom
+4 Concentration
Weight: 1.8lbs
Value: 6750

Epic Strider's Ancient Dragon Skin Boots
Category: Light Armor
Base Armor Rating: 8
+10 Hit Points
+4 Move Silently
+5 Wisdom
Weight: 6.0lbs
Value: 6750

The boots I'm pretty sure I found in one of the chests in the same place you find the fourth widget in. I believe I bought the helm for a small fortune.

They're fireproof, which I think only matters for boots and pants. It prevents them from taking damage when wading through lava, which doesn't really come up in Book III anyway.
