Class/axiom combos that provide the given starting skill, listed in parentheses.

TRAINER + BOOK:
- Alchemy
- Arcane, Elemental (Ath/Dru/Nef/Ag Mage)
- Armor, Heavy
- Armor, Light
- Armor, Shields (Dru Fighter)
- Cartography
- Foraging (Dru Ranger)
- Lore
- Medicine (Dru Healer)
- Mercantile
- Pick Locks (Ath Rogue)
- Weapon, Bludgeoning (Ag Fighter)
- Weapon, Bow (Virt Rogue, Ath/Ag Ranger)
- Weapon, Cleaving (Nef Fighter, Nef Ranger, Ath Healer)
- Weapon, Sword (Ath/Virt Fighter)

TRAINER ONLY:
- Meditation

BOOK ONLY:
- Arcane, Divination (Virt Mage, Virt/Ag Healer, Virt Ranger)
- Dodge
- Hide in Shadows (Dru Rogue)
- Move Silently
- Skullduggery (Ag Rogue)
- Spot Hidden
- Unarmed Combat
- Weapon, Piercing (Nef Rogue, Nef Healer)

NO TRAINERS OR BOOKS:
- Repair
- Weapons, Thrown

I'm not sure if the book and trainer mechanics are the same as in Book II. Can someone confirm if they are? (If so, reading the book gets you to level 1, or +2 skill levels otherwise; trainers get you as high as level 8.)

Of the merchants, Arima, Shelta, Dannia, and Alexx are the ones who will stock books.

I guess the Nefarious Healer is still technically the way to go if you want to min-max.

You missed a trainer. Madam Gilda teaches Medicine, Meditation and Alchemy.
The mechanics are exactly the same as in Book II.

You're right! Thanks very much for the correction, I've added it to the list.
