What on earth am I supposed to put in her chest? I'm asking for a spoiler here. I've tried diamonds, rubies, a mixture of gems, potions. I give up. Please help somebody . . .

You need to put a certain amount of weight inside the chest.

Put five pounds worth of Stuff into the chest. It's possible that the weight calculation is slightly bugged a little bit, especially if you use more than one item. The easiest way to do it is to start with a full waterskin and take a couple drinks (which should bring it down to 5lbs.) Then put only that waterskin in the chest - you can take it back on your way out.

Edit: Which got me thinking - I wonder if anyone'd be interested in putting together a UHS-style hintbook for the Eschalon series. I used to love those old Sierra hintbooks, fake questions and silly answers and all. The UHS system does a pretty good job of enabling that digitally.
