Blacksmiths killed in both towns

I was followed back to Aridell and Bordertown by creatures and they killed my black smiths and some of my quest people so i can't complete. Do these characters regenerate or am i out of luck?

Yeah I'm pretty sure they are gone forever. It happened to me once.

Did you just start over with a new character?

No, I just loaded the last save I made before he got killed. Although I think even if they are dead you can still finish the game

You can potentially delete the map files where the NPCs are from your save game folder. Then when you go to load your game, you'll get a fresh copy of the maps. Depending on what else is on the maps, that can sometimes lead to other unexpected consequences, and is not officially supported in any way.
