Awesome....I came across this link months and months ago but lost it and couldn't think of the name for the life of me. So long as they accept Credit Cards proper and not just the paypal crap I'll almost certainly be down for this.

Demo and full version is out folks. I'm proud of the helping I put in as my first shot helping with a retail game. Surely some folk here will get a kick out of it.

:Whistles to himself how it might be swell to help with future Eschalon stuff in a similar capacity come this Fall's beta:

I just bought it and am enjoying it so far. Can't say I like the resolution of 320x240, so I set my machine to 800 v 600 and play in windows mode. The font is a bit hard to read.

The game has a nice atmosphere, graphics remind me of Ultima VI a bit. The combat is very good with lots of different options but I think most impressive is the combat AI. There are monsters that avoid webs, go after your spell caster etc.....

I do have to say the production values and resolution are a bit low for a game that cost 25$, but then again graphics arent that important to me.

Haven't played very far yet, but I like it so far.

Once the team fixes the insufferable font, this may be a must-be for me.

However, 15 pounds is a tad too steep. I mean, the only reason I don't own Avernum is because Spiderweb charges ~30 dollars for it! Maybe more in the range of 15 to 20 dollars would be better, for both games.

I'm also slowly beginning to realize Eschalon is the only indie RPG that both gets the ideal price and non-ugly graphics.

I agree, for the indy scene Eschalon's production values are very good, Im very happy with them.

Age Of Decadence looks good, but I dont know if it will ever be released.

AoD will release right along with Duke Nukem Forever, the day after never.

You will probably see Duke Nukem Forever before AOD and the Broken Hourglass!!

Ouch! That was painful, if not particularly original. Unlike DNF however, AoD isn't vaporware. Four real people are working on it right now, and have been for a long time. It will be released some time in that mysterious land called Tomorrow. I personally hope it will just be announced one day as complete and posted for sale, with all the hype, publicity and interviews afterward.

As for KotC, try the demo already! The font has been fixed and it's a wonderful game if you love tactical, turn-based combat. It's kind of like a less pretty, more tactical Eschalon.

Thank you, interesting read. I'll check it out even though I'm not a fan of later versions of D&D or lots of combat.

This game has some of the best tactical TB combat I have ever played. The combat encounters and enemy AI are much better that any other D&D cRPG. The bottom line here is that if you like tactical TB combat and you want to have to work hard at your strategy and really use all those obscure spells and crafted items then this is the game for you.

I think the author did a lot of specific combat scripts in addition to the AI, this made the game better. He set many of the monsters actions individually for each encounter.

cant find the demo link and without seeing this after the reviews of crappy res, id need to play a bit of it first.

graphics arent the be all end all, but if you cant read fonts, and arent at least 800X600 even for a 5 to 10 year old game, thats kind of dumb.

Even D2 lord of destruction was that res, in 2k.
