Those of you keeping an eye on the Age of Decadence forums will probably have seen the Cyclopean forum there as well. Cyclopean is Iron Tower Studios' second game, a currently in preproduction RPG set in 1923 Massachusetts, heavily influenced by the original stories and settings of HP Lovecraft.

The main thread is stuffed with links to explanations of rules, stats, character backgrounds, an interactive character generator (which you can use to assign a background, stats, traits and skills to a test character), and finally several short story length writing samples. The writing in particular is meant to be an important feature in the game.

Like Age of Decadence, Cyclopean will be developed with constant fan criticism and input, so you're encouraged to comment and engage in debate both esoteric and profound on the modern and old school RPG.

I can't think of something better than a rpg based the on Cthulhu Mythos.

Some of Lovecraft's work is based in Brattleboro, VT. The place screams creepy to me. If you live in Mass you should visit for inspiration.

Whisperer in Darkness is based in Brattleboro and it's environs. I actually haven't read this story yet because I don't have it. Lovecraft books run about 50 a pop these days.

I lived in Brattleboro for several years. There's something in the water there that makes people really strange. There was a Lovecraft Festival there the fall after I left.

I'd be happy to share some pictures with you of the area once I put them in my public folder.

Lovecraft's stories available online. He died shortly before the copyright movement's tentacles could ensnare his works for all eternity.
