Re: Who's getting Dragon Age?
As good as this game looks, I'm seriously leaning toward Borderlands. I enjoy both the RPG and FPS genres, and with the Fallout-esque gameplay/setting and drop-in cooperative multiplayer... heck, my dad might even play it (he won't have anything to do with RPG's).
Then again, Barnes and Noble just announced their nook e-book reader... *sigh*

Notwithstanding the mind-numbing extravagance expressed above... so what?macdude22 wrote: 2 Tickets: $175 (after ticketmaster Deliverance style fees)
Dinner: $60 (with tip) at a moderately priced brewery a few blocks down
Gas: $15
Total for 3-4 hours of entertainment and mealing: $250
$50 is half of $100, and I can think of a lot of better things I can spend that kind of money on. Plus, if you don't know how to find better deals for decent computer games (or, for that matter, movies, concerts, or food), you must be pretty loose with your money.
...Of course, based on your post, I see that you are.
...But if you have lots of $$ to play around with, I suppose I can't blame you.

Re: Who's getting Dragon Age?
-Eh, I do agree that buying a video game is a very cheap form of entertainment..and worth it, because...yea..$20-$50 for a great game to spend..as little as 10 hours to 50+ hours...Sure beats a movie for $11 etc. etc.
-But I do believe every type of entertainment has their own values. Because, if I want to see a movie...I'll spend $11 to see a movie (in the theaters).
-Also, I wouldn't consider taking a person to dinner as...'entertainment'.
-I guess I agree with everyone ahah

Ouch. Sorry to hear that, Iane. Capitalism can really suck, sometimes.

Re: Who's getting Dragon Age?
Actually, the insane cost of game and other imported items in Australia has nothing to do with capitalism and everything to do with shipping costs and government tariffs to protect "native" businesses. Downloads in Austalian $ should be only about 11% higher than in US dollars, or can you not order the downloadable ones there for some reason?

Re: Who's getting Dragon Age?
I picked up Dragon Age today. So far it is very polished and well made, though I'm not so much into the storyline and the writing/voice acting is a bit melodramatic. And the blood effects are a bit too much- my very first encounter was with a pack of 6-7 rats, after which I was drenched in blood splatter as if I had just taken a chainsaw to a moose. Rather silly.

I read online a while ago on yahoo news about a male Canadian arrested for chasing a moose with an axe...BasiliskWrangler wrote:What happens in Canada, stays in Canada....CrazyBernie wrote:You speak as though you have experience with chainsaws and moose.... >.<
