Here's a tech test showing and area of The Bloom and the Cold Calculating Jack:

For a hastily thrown together proof of concept, that's mighty impressive.

Huh. I think it's fair to say, I've never seen a game that looks quite like that. (Kind of how I felt about Eschalon: Book I first time I laid eyes on it...) That's pretty cool. Looking forward to see what these guys come up with...

It very vaguely reminds me of Morrowind, as far as how the land looks.

Here's update 14.

Tony Evans talks combat:

Sagus Cliffs screenshot (link because it would stretch the page like crazy)

Castoff's Labyrinth (8 Fathoms Style):

They just crossed 3.5 million (plus 70k+ PayPal) with 2 days left. I still think this can break 4 million.

With 4 hours left, this just became the highest funded video game Kickstarter project ever!

I've been watching this, too, and I still can't help but be skeptical, but still... watching and drooling.

EDIT: Just watched your Tony clip, Sird, and I like his "less is more philosophy" regarding combat. Yes, yes, yes!

EDIT #2: Now that I've just spent more time looking into the latest (why hadn't I checked out their FB page until now?)... not really skeptical any more, only salivating... .
Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.

Yeah, this game is shaping up really nicely. They have some awesome artists, fantastic composers, and, most importantly, one heck of a writing team, on board for this. The few proof of concept glimpses they have shown us have been nothing short of spectacular. Trying to live up to the Torment name is quite a challenge, but maybe, just maybe, they can pull it off.

Anyone remember RogueDao? I guess technically Purgatorio is still in development, but I guess they've been having trouble.

Hope they manage to finish it.
