Here's an upcoming Kickstarter project from Richard Garriott, aka Lord British:

Just posted on this in the "Ultima Forever" thread. As I said over there, looks interesting, and at least it'll be PC, Mac and Linux.sirdilznik wrote:Here's an upcoming Kickstarter project from Richard Garriott, aka Lord British:

My biggest reservation about this is that it seems very MMO-ish, and that's not my bag, but it was mentioned that the game will be playable single player offline. Plus, it is Lord British, so I'm definitely interested.

Looks like this one should meet its pledge goal easy (they already have about $750k of the 1mil, after just 4 days...). I wonder what their 'stretch' goals will be...sirdilznik wrote:Here's an upcoming Kickstarter project from Richard Garriott, aka Lord British:

(Aside: I can't believe how much ca$h Torment: Tides of Numenera is raking in on Kickstarter! - Is this kind of response unprecedented for KS?!...)

Yeah, it will make the funding goal and then some easily. I predict it will wind up somewhere in the 1.5 million - 2 million range at the end.IJBall wrote:Looks like this one should meet its pledge goal easy (they already have about $750k of the 1mil, after just 4 days...). [off-topic]As for Torment: Tides of Numenera, the pace it started off at was the fastest of any Kickstarter project, faster even than Project: Eternity (most successful video game project) and Ouya (most successful project overall). Obviously, it's where it finishes, not where it starts that matters, though. I'm predicting around 5 million, which would be right up there with Ouya.[/off-topic]

Re: [KS] Shroud of the Avatar
Goal met - 18 days to go.
I hope they get to $1.2 mil - the "pet" stretch goal is neither here nor there to me, but the "seasonal weather" stretch goal for $1.2 mil is definitely something I'd like to see in the game (a la Eschalon Book II...).

Was in their chat tonight and brought up basilisk games and eschalon. They were very impressed with your game thomas, one of them is going to check it out when work settles down a bit.

A friend showed me this link to Lord British winning hearts and minds in the creative community: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/vi ... paign=news
That said, I have pledged to this Kickstarter.

Re: [KS] Shroud of the Avatar
I'm glad this made it to $1.7 mil (or is close enough to that, with 6 hours to go).
So not only did they reach the $1.5 mil 'stretch' goal to double the starting continent's size, but they got to $1.6 mil ("mysterious island" stretch goal) and $1.7 ("hidden vale" stretch goal). Very cool.
I wish I wasn't poor right now, as I definitely would have kicked in to this one.
At the least, though - I'll buy this one when it's released.
