Cannot Load Grimmhold either from East or West

Every time I try to enter the fort area either from the east or from the west, the game simply says "Loading" for hours upon end, and eventually I just have to crash the game, it never loads... I've already tried the patch, didn't fix it? What shall I do? By the way I have the Steam edition if that matters...

Find your saved game folder, and locate the slot you are trying to load. Delete any file inside that slot in reference to Grimmhold (there should be 3 files with the Grimmhold name using different extensions). Now load your game and try to enter Grimmhold (this technique forces the game to reset Grimmhold).

Is there a number associated with grimhold? I see that every area has three files but they're by number not name, is that normal?

Okay, that means you've never visited that area.

If it fails to load, that suggests the files for Grimmhold are not there. Are you playing the demo version somehow? The demo does not have the Grimmhold map files, and so if the full version tried to load that area from the demo install, you'd get a freeze like that.

I did play the demo version but I deleted it when I bought the full version... do you think there's any way to fix it? Also, I found the problem in another area, not Blackwater but the area one east, and one south of it, I'm guessing the central salt coast... What shall I do?

Completely remove the game (all files) and reinstall it. This won't remove your saved games.

I have about the same issue, however I HAVE been to Grimmhold, and when I quick travel to Grimmhold west it will crash the instant that a turn passes. I actually tried deleting and reinstalling and the problem is still present... any ideas? Would you like me to attach a save?

It's not the Grimmhold map you need to delete.... you're not actually in Grimmhold when you port to Grimmhold West. It's the map to the west of Grimmhold. Delete the entries labeled 34.ent, 34.map, and 34.opq in your save folder and that should fix your problem.
