Yeah, but it's more fun to give you credit.

I voted "other" but I found the demo on the Apple site in downloads. Wasn't sure if that counts as a game portal?? I think it was a staff pick.

I went on GameTunnel.com to see if it had any reviews of MDickie's games. I saw the RPG button on the right and, well, I'm an RPG freak, so I clicked on it and found Avernum 4. I enjoyed Avernum 4 and when I typed on search.blogger.com for Avernum type games, I found Eschalon. Best indy RPG I've ever played. Rock On! \m/

I also read about it on Jayisgames.com. They usually review short casual games but gave Eschalon Book 1 a really good writeup. After an hour or two with the demo I was totally hooked and bought the full download.

I saw this game on nstorm.com and downloaded it and then I fell in love with it! It reminded me of the Spiderweb games like Exile and Avernum which are virtually the same in a unique way of their own. I loved those games and this one was just like it but with a little better control over things in my opinion. Everything was great about this game except for the fact you can't stack items in your inventory when you pick them up (if you have 5 sulfur and get another it takes another slot and doesn't add it to existing sulfur). Other than that, the character moves across the land a little slow but, all in all, its a fantastic game!! Can't wait for Book 2!!!!

Yes, not to belabor the connection, but Eschalon seems popular on the Spiderweb forums. You have some fans over there.
Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.

I saw it mentioned by Tycho, on Penny Arcade.

I figure a lot of people got here that way.

Nice game :)

Needs an online guide, I think. Just listing spells, skills, etc. 'Course, I may just have missed it... looking for that now.

Edit: Haha - never mind. Just saw the Manual in the game folder :D

There is a spell list here in the forums, and a very nice FAQ as well.

Glad you've found us, GrubLord! :D

I learned about the game from the banner add on Penny Arcade. It was such a joy, because I've been having trouble finding quality Indie games. ;)

There was a thread about Avernum in the Games forum on SomethingAwful, and one of the posters there mentioned Eschalon.
