Did the developers of Eschalon also work on Siege of Avalon?

I just wondered if there was an influence from Siege of Avalon since it seems like an improved version of that game. The only thing I miss in the demo so far is the ability to have NPCs join your party. I also noticed that the soundtrack had a lot of tracks from SoA. Is there a way to also add custom soundtracks to the game in the music directory?
