Me too. Anyway, to clarify what I said above: I was speaking of foreshadowing. No dragons appear in b1, yet in b2: suddenly there's a dragon skeleton, making dragons not just legend but an actual [former?] reality.Dragonlady wrote:I thought that skeleton, sad as it is, was the last dragon on the planet so only dragons around are in art work and carvings. Shrug.

Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.

Former reality if the skeleton they put together was an actual beast, and not something made up of bits of skeletons of other things.Evnissyen wrote:Me too. I hope that's not true.Dragonlady wrote:Sides, I thought that skeleton, sad as it is, was the last dragon on the planet so only dragons around are in art work and carvings. Shrug.
FWIW, I did not get that impression from the skeleton in the Lockston basement - I don't recall any indication that this skeleton was the "last" dragon.

Re: Holy sh!t
I don't think there was any in-game info. It's just that in our own, contemporary world we don't normally put up a skeleton of a creature we still see around us everyday, but if a creature has become extinct we are much more likely to preserve the bones and put them on display.IJBall wrote:FWIW, I did not get that impression from the skeleton in the Lockston basement - I don't recall any indication that this skeleton was the "last" dragon.
That's probably what caused Dragonlady's idea.

Only information in game is from the plaque that reads: "Draco Pyrus Destructus: Unearthed in Barrea, age of remains unknown."IJBall wrote:FWIW, I did not get that impression from the skeleton in the Lockston basement - I don't recall any indication that this skeleton was the "last" dragon.

Well, my guess would be that dragons are possible but not probable. The bones in Port K are from Barrea, and Book III is probably set in the islands to the east like Wylderan. That tricky BW could be setting us up for a T Rex sort of surprise - who knows?

Well, I'd just like to say that my character doesn't believe in dragons.

Now I'm imagining Evnissyen standing in front of a dragon with his eyes squeezed shut repeating, "There are no dragons, there are no dragons, there are no dragons..." and the dragon patiently waiting with a hungry grin.Evnissyen wrote:Well, I'd just like to say that my character doesn't believe in dragons.

Re: Holy sh!t
So, we know a couple of things since BW posted his latest update on the news page.
First, his team is bigger. We don't know whether the new help is for Book III or for another project. At some point (a long time ago) BW mentioned wishing he could afford some help with the graphics part of game design. Maybe that has come to pass?
Book III won't be out this year. Since I absolutely cannot wait for Book III I am totally crushed and decimated - but not terribly surprised. Maybe early next year?
Best news - everyone is working hard on new games. Yes to that good news!!!

BW has to be sure to crosspost stuff like that to these forums, or at least put up a post with a message telling us to check the front page!! (Some of us hang out primarily in these forums, and don't check the front page often, after all! )

One person that's not gonna lose any sleep about it is me. I still remember that Book II originally was scheduled for release early 2009, but it took well over a year longer. Book III hasn't even been announced yet.IJBall wrote:P.S. We should all get kudos for not pestering BW for a Book III 'update' yet!...
Just wake me up in 2014 and tell me the score!

Continuing with the "are there dragons in Book III" theme. There is clothing made of "ancient dragon skin" in Book II. So, the skins exist, but are not new. Hmmmm, methinks that dragons are looking like a real possibility.IJBall wrote:No one's commented on this yet, but note that the pillars on the new Book III page display dragons.

...or else they're fakes; the gloves are really made of lizard skin.Painted Lady wrote:Continuing with the "are there dragons in Book III" theme. Hmmm......Ancient dragon skin gloves could be really old dragon skin gloves or they could be brand spanking gloves made from a freshly killed ancient dragon.
