Well I prefer these cyberpunk/apoco games to the equally tired Battlefield Recon: Modern Combat Warfare genre.
At least E.Y.E. is a indie venture that offers some really complex looking gameplay.
Firingsquad has a good writeup on the game. And since it's a Source engine game, it shouldn't be terribly punishing on hardware.
I agree on Rage's shoo-in status; after seeing a good chunk of gameplay vids and watching Carmack's Quakecon speech (over an hour of mostly over-my-head jargon), I have mostly high hopes for the game's enjoyment factor. The only thing that turned me off was the lack of a health system. The "get-to-cover-so-you-can-regen-in-10-seconds" system is just too damn cheesy. That's one thing that has me excited about Hard Reset. That and Serious Sam 3 are actually more true to the old-school shooter than anything else.
