Re: Unique Item Suggestions
Great idea, Jedi Learner. I don't have one to add, yet, but I wanted to say thanks for starting the topic.

Re: Unique Item Suggestions
Item Name: Berserker Axe
Type: 2H Weapon
Base Damage: 9
Special: For every successful hit, you sacrifice 5-50 Hitpoints for double the amount in bonus damage.
How to obtain: The Berserker Axe can only be obtained by mixing your own blood, and a foes blood in the alchemy table, with any 2H Axe as the vessel.
Example: You would have done 20 damage. Instead though, you sacrificed 23 hitpoints, for 46 extra damage. This makes your hit do 66 damage instead.
Item Name: Godly Hammer
Type: 2H Weapon
Base Damage: 8
Special: For every successful hit, you have a chance to be healed 1/2-3/4 of the damage dealt.
How to obtain: The Godly Hammer is obtained by mixing the best healing potion, and your own blood in the Alchemy table, with any 2H Hammer as the vessel.
Example: You did 40 damage with your hit. You were healed 27 health for the hit.
I've always been more of a weapon kind of guy...

Sacrificial Dagger
Base Damage 4
+3 ToHit
-2 Endurance
Special: Use (right click) to lose 20 HP and gain 10 MP
Or in script terms, something like:
cond_mana ; trauma 20 ; restore 10 ; gfx (Colored Smoke) 0 5 ; msg (Blood drips from your hand and sizzles in the air, turning to acrid smoke. You feel a surge of power.)
The amount of HP loss and MP gain probably need to be tweaked to be useful without being unbalancing. I didn't put too much thought into the stats for use as an actual weapon, either.

Everlasting Arrow
1 dam.
10 lbs
Special: Returns to quiver when fired.
(Contrary to popular this arrow is not everlasting, but take mind to straighten the arrows and sharpen the tip and it will last many years. It's magic also works against any movement of it's own quiver, making it difficult to transport

Huh. Can you wield a shield with Unarmed Combat?! I must admit - I've never tried! If you can, I like your item suggestion.Jedi_Learner wrote:

Re: Unique Item Suggestions
Maybe BW will add in a "shield bash" attack and then you could have "dual shield wielding".

Re: Unique Item Suggestions
I don't think I've ever used the unarmed combat skill. I'm thinking I may have to create myself a ninja/monk style character...

You can. I've done it, though I didn't run that character's shield skill way up like I did my shield/piercing specialist. Definitely a cool idea.IJBall wrote:Huh. Re: Unique Item Suggestions
I'd like to see some "weapons" for the unarmed combat skill, like brass knuckles, spiked steel gloves, etc. I guess they would have to go in the gauntlet's slot on the equipment screen, rather than the weapon slot. But if you did that, then you could do:
Mithril Gauntlets of the Warlord
Base Damage: 10
Unarmed Combat +4
Damage +4
Speed +4

I like the idea of a Hunter's Helm. A leather cap that gives +2 Bows, and Predator Sight always on. Low armor rating, though, to balance. After all, it will allow you to work always in the dark, so who needs the extra armor.

Re: Unique Item Suggestions
This needs a better name:
Bracers of Parrying
Armor 0
allows unarmed combat skill to be used in parry mode to increase defense
Currently unarmed combat is the only weapon skill that can't be used to parry. With this item you now have something to deflect attacks as you move into melee range.

...Or we use knuckes (yes, the infamous Brass Bronze Knuckles). They count as weapons (?).

Re: Unique Item Suggestions
Oh I meant to ask that do they count for parrying. Which you also answered.
Re: Unique Item Suggestions
I do like the thought of something for the unarmed character. To avoid the lunacy of bronze brass knuckles, how about a bronze cestus?
