At the end of Book II the *One* disintegrates Korren with a metallic wand before turning it on you. You only survive because you block the beam of energy with the Crux of Fire. I don't think it is unfair to assume we will cross paths with the *One* again.

What would stop him from using his metallic wand again?

In the words of the Knights of the Round Table, "Runaway, runaway."

Considering how much of your equipment survived the blast, finding another Crux and always having it handy seems like the only solution.

Personally, I would really just like to strangle the dang jerk. Sneak up behind him and maybe throw a few really good punches. That would calm me down, and once I'm calm I could just stab him through the heart. That's what I want anyway. Probably won't happen.

My guess is that I'm going to have to work with/for him at some point, and he'll just turn around and stab me in the back.

I wouldn't help a strange evil person that betrayed his own kin and disintegrated our most beloved friend, including stealing the Crux of Ages again after we got it back :?. Also reading the map of eschalon, it seems Blackwater and Aridell are marked with 'd. 726'. Maybe they were destroyed only a year before our adventures in Mistfell? (Sorry for bumping and old post, I just thought it had to be done)

How will i survive?

I will for one not use any melee weapons whatsoever. Melee is good for bashing down doors but other than that, it fails in every way. Ranged weapons and magic beat it. The first time i played the game, i went the melee route and it was just a waste of time. The game is geared for melee only if you put all your points in heavy armor, strength, and endurance. Fighters are ok, but they are not really recommended as melee is horrible.

I like move silently for mages, priests and ranged users as it allows you to snipe and get away for counterattacks. Melee would be good if you could do that, but i would say you need move silently at 15 which is tough.

How you survive the One's metallic wand of evil. A question of mine: How did you manage to post in this thread without even reading the first post? I'm in awe...

I just initially felt that this was a how will you survive book3. I was certain of that because the eschalon games are always about survival, and making a character that works/survives for you. Im sorry if i messed up the thread, i didnt mean to.

I would challenge the *One* to a battle of wits:

I've been thinking about this again lately, and here are my thoughts:

  • The metallic wand is out of charges. :P But couldn't he just make another?

  • The Crux of Terra and/or Wisdom make you immune to the metallic wand.

  • The Orakur Assembly, if it exists and Shina isn't lying to you, could make you some armor or item to negate or reduce the power of the metallic wand. If this is the case, wouldn't some of the challenges be changed?

  • The *One* doesn't engage you in a physical fight, but rather in your mind. But how would he be able to influence you from afar considering your memory loss? Could he do it if you were in the same room as him? And if he could, why didn't he in the Crux chamber in Book II?

I'd be very surprised, and slightly disappointed if the *One* wasn't the final boss.
