I saved just before talushorn.
when you go into foyer, and hit lever, and go in, a gate closes.
at that point, there is no turning back, right?
no more run to merchants, etc? everything else in the game occurs in Talushorn?

Well after a certain point the only ways out are to finish or use an editor to move past the barrier.

Wrong answer! You can get out by simply activating that tile again (walking on it).
