I've played avadon's demo, and it was the closest in the "feel"(but something about the graphics wasn't immersive enough like eschalon?).
I've tried avernum, but couldn't get myself into it.
anyone recommends something? there's probably a thread somewhere?
games that are as close to eschalon..?

An interesting title, something like Eschalon with one character it could be Age of Decadence by IronTower Studio. It' s a post-apocalyptic fantasy rpg.

yes I've tried AoD, the camera movements are a drag, and I actually couldn't progress very well with it. I think it's a decent game though compared to what's out there now.
I just like that isometric view more, I don't need to strain myself as in other camera movements-especially those that are moveable.

On the style of Eschalon there's 9th Dawn for PC, iOS and Android. No port for Mac now.

If you like post-apocalyptic setting Underrail is really pretty.

Or you can pick up DOSBox emulator and replay some classics like Ultima or Might & Magic.

I'm working on one, but it will be a year or two before it is ready. It will be party-based, but will play similar to Eschalon. I've also hired a professional artist for it - in fact, it's the same guy who did the art for Heroes III & IV and Might & Magic VI, VIII, and VIII.

If you have an iPhone or iPad "The Quest" is a nice CRPG. It's single player and turn-based. The view takes a little getting used to because it's first person instead of isometric. Actually, if your iPad has a retina display you can double the size of the window and have a fairly normal playing experience.

My friend, I just looked up 9th dawn and I am going to get it. The only thing is it says the Pc version is a port and that it doesn't have input. Can anyone explain what that means as I want to get it but just want to make sure it runs.Nevermore wrote:On the style of Eschalon there's 9th Dawn for PC, iOS and Android. No port for Mac now.

it is a joke right?
just in case its not-it means he has "ported" the version of the iPhone to the PC, as in "transferred without any changes", much like dark souls been ported from Xbox or PS3 to the PC, or any other ported game.
which means you don't need any "input" for it, all is well, you can buy the game and be assured it will work.
