Re: Food creation spell
It's been renamed Malachai's Gruel, and now produces less appetizing food, i.e. you can't sell it to merchants.
Re: Food creation spell
I'm feeling a bit guilty that my old guide for Eschalon Book II "Tales of a food merchant" may have had something to do with the spell getting rebalanced in order to avoid breaking the game's economy.
Same goes for the change to Foraging skill. While the changes may appear less "fun" in the beginning, the decision was right in my opinion and clearly noticeable, I had to plan my expenses very wisely in Book III.
Luckily the everlasting pot of clam chowder makes up for the gruel spell =]

Re: Food creation spell
Foraging now provides food and water as well as alchemy ingredients at higher levels, even if it is cheap food.

I also prefer the way the foraging skill and the create food spell are handled in Book III. It would be nice if the changes could somehow be applied to Book II. In Book II, the foraging skill makes it far too easy to get endless money.
The new version of the create food spell is a great improvement. In Book II, and in many other role playing games, the spell conjures up perfect, appetizing food. In Book III, it makes more sense; it would take truly powerful magic to create a perfect salted fish out of thin air. An unappetizing slurry is a more likely result from such a spell. I especially love how the spell creates premium gruel at the higher levels; it is only slightly less revolting than the regular gruel. If this game had a penalty for morale loss, the gruel could have been even less desirable - truly an emergency food supply.

Macross Point, I think? No mecha there, though... just clam chowder.AK_Marty wrote:Where is this pot of clam chowder of which you speak??okashii wrote: Luckily the everlasting pot of clam chowder makes up for the gruel spell =]

Yes, clam chowder is at Macross Point at the caravan. Pot is near the beach.
Strangely you don't even need to stand next to it to use it... apparently a bowl teleports to you if you can see the pot and want some.
