Won't accept finished quests

Post by wineguy »

Let me be general here to avoid spoilers.

My first run through I completed a major quest in an untraditional way (lock picking and completing the area before receiving the key and quest). No matter how I tried, after receiving the quest the normal way, it would not acknowledge my success (even though I had the token of success in my inventory).

I therefore started over with a new character. The new character could not resist a pretty obvious shortcut and so complete a quest again out of sequence. Since then the character can not advance the plot in a related way, or in another unrelated way. The quests and story line are not progressing in the one case, and the finish of the quest is not being acknowledged in other instance.

Having played the first two chapters of the game, I am unused to this problem, as the games have always been unilinear and I have never seen this issue.

Am I experiencing a bug? It has made the game unplayable since I would have to use a walk through to ensure I did everything just right. That doesn't sound like the Eschalon games to me.

Using a MacBook with El Capitan and v. 1.01 from the App Store. Happy to send a saved game if it will help (writing from my iPad ATM). Can also post specifics under a spoiler, if you wish.

Specifics under a spoiler would help, as would a saved game. This is probably a bug, which we could add to the list, but BW is no longer actively maintaining Book III. The best we can likely offer you is a work-around involving modifying your saved game.

[+] SPOILER
Specifically, I did the tombstone to open the path to the old Moonrise. When I get to the pub she is surprised to see me, and acts like I am a customer, but I can't get her to say anything about needing the head, or acknowledging the the quest. I have the quest to see her in my list, and I did go to meet what's her name first.

The other issue is that I have cleared out the seawarden's guild, but the smith in old Moonrise thinks there is still more to do (it could be me of course, but I cleared it fine the first time through, and I have been back 6 times or more and their isn't a soul to kill or an area to explore).

The first game issue (not in the save file I am sending you) was after rescuing the tree and having the branch, the ranger's still ignore me.

I am not discounting that any of this is stupid human error.

To be able to ask Dannia about Alundar, you need to have quest 7 in state 1, which is accomplished by reading Erubor's (first) letter that you get from Lilith at her camp on the beach. You have the letter in your inventory but you haven't read it. Read it and the quest will get set properly.

To finish clearing the Seawarden's Guild, you need to kill one more enemy - a Bloodborn Rogue by the well just to the south of the guild entrance.

Good to know it was stupid human error, and not the game. Now I can continue with confidence. So sorry to have wasted your time.
