Okay, one final thing that I noted while doing my first runthrough of Book 2 is that the current weather will carry itself with you when you use the Portal spell, which includes things like carrying a blizzard back with you from Nor'land (a bit amusing when you've Portalled back to Picaroon Isle or something), and likewise carrying rain back with you to Nor'land. It'd be nice if the weather type was translated based on your region instead of being brought along fully; so snow in Nor'land would turn into rain elsewhere, and blizzards would turn into thunderstorms, etc.
Not that we can't just pretend that there was a freak snowstorm coming down from the mountains, but I'm guessing that wasn't really intentional. :)

You open a rift in space to travel across the continent and you don't expect some side effects.
