A question was just asked of me, which I did not have the answer to: what is the best possible weapon or armor that can be randomly generated?

I can come up with some possibilities (based on my knowledge of how items are generated), but I thought it'd be cool if some of you shared screenshots of the best weapons or armor you've ever come across.

P.S. Imbuing for additional power is okay too! We are looking for the most bad-ass weapons and armor ever found in Eschalon!

A bit subjective, as what would be awesome armor for one character might not be so for another. That being said, I found Insulated Studded Reptile Hide Armor that gave +20 Magick resistance. Weighed only 6.8 lbs with a base AC of 8. I added +3 AC with alchemy. That was a great find for my Rogue.

Weapon: with the same Rogue, who trained heavily in Bludgeoning weapons, I found a Frostbit Mithril War Maul, which had 9 base damage and +4 freeze damage. I added +3 fire* and +3 poison. I could cast enchant weapon to get a boost to hit. Biggest drawback was the 15 lb weight of it.

*wasn't sure if the freeze and fire would negate each other, but went ahead anyway. Seemed pretty effective.

I took the bow from the chest by Zeblin when it was a divine timber recurved bow with base damage 9. Then I imbued it with +3 to hit, +3 damage, and +3 frost damage for probably the best bow in the game.

Also no screen shot, but I've seen an Admantium Grand Axe +4 (Base 10, +4 Dam, 12.8 lbs) and an unenchanted Divine Ore Grand Axe (Base 11, 13.6 lbs) that can be enchanted up. These both came up at merchants.

I haven't ever seen a +4 armor bonus randomly generated on a piece of armor in book 2, hoping to come across that yet. Anyone else see one?

heh, ya i saw something very incredible. I found dragon skin boots on my first play though and was like 'damn those be awesome' but then on my 2nd time through the game i found ancient dragon skin boots!!! :shock: i about pooped my pants!

I had ancient dragon skin boots in my first play through, randomly found in the open casket by the ruined church (I took a really circuitous route in the game and didn't find those until after I'd found Durnore). They suffered from that odd random generation hiccup, though, that sometimes makes found things lower quality than the name should imply. They were only AR 6, and I later found regular dragon skin boots that were AR 8 and +20 magic resistance so I traded up.

Has that bug been fixed in v1.04a?...

You can enchant an item with to hit AND damage AND elemental damage etc???

Every item can hold up to three enchantments. If you try more, they go boom.

i have not imbued the wand, but that's an awesome weapon, kills guards in 3 goes and is rechargable rapidly by resting just a few seconds

I think you need to recheck that, Randomizer. I'm pretty sure you've managed to blast your way to that chest near the Farrock Monument and get the special item from there. The base damage is 15. Of course, you get a total of 15 uses, maximum.

I've seen up to 15 base damage on one-use weapons. The most I've ever seen for a multiple-use weapon is 10. Of course, that was a cleaving weapon when I was a bludgeoning specialist, and the best hammer I found was a 7. Grrr.

I'd be interested to see a level 22 character go back and pick up some of the level-dependent stuff. Maybe you could get base 11 items?

There is a base 11 weapon mentioned earlier in this thread- a Divine Ore Grand Axe
