small Kuudad cellar

My first time through the game, I easily reached the small cellar with chests guarded by assassins in the center of the sewers below Kuudad. This time the wall in the condemned warehouse is closed, so I can't reach the upstairs lever to open the gate above the coffins. Anyone have a clue why?

Have you looked in the room next door to the condemned warehouse?
There's something in that room that you need to do...
