The armies joined in a bloody battle on this fine day, then storm clouds broke, and it rained.
So they all went home.---Story knots within blatherbeards Beard.

Yeah, i usually keep around 6-8. It's just about enough for pretty much anywhere, as long as you keep them stocked up. My first book I playthrough, though...

How do you survive long enough to get the Invisible spell or enough Alchemy (that recipe doesn't show up until late in the game) to make potions?Randomizer wrote:You don't need a range attack if you use invisibility (spell or potion) to close with monsters using unarmed combat as a melee attack. Pump unarmed combat skill from the start and hold back some initial skill points (at least 6) so you can increase the skill by 5 for the first three levels. You want the feat as soon as possible and to do decent damage with it. You retreat from monsters while it recharges if you have difficulty hitting.

Actually, you can buy the recipe as soon as you get to Port Kudaad if you have the money, and if you can get into the front gate of Port K, you can get to the location of the invisibility potion, so it doesn't have to be that late in the game.Painted Lady wrote:How do you survive long enough to get the Invisible spell or enough Alchemy (that recipe doesn't show up until late in the game) to make potions?Randomizer wrote:You don't need a range attack if you use invisibility (spell or potion) to close with monsters using unarmed combat as a melee attack. Gravedigger's flame has the unfortunate side-effect of not being cancellable. It remains floating above you until the time expires. But if that is not a concern, you can cast gravedigger's flame and cat's eyes and see the entire screen become bright as a day.

You could, of course, go for predator sight instead. It has the benefit of not making yourself visible. The downside is that you can't really see that much either.

Of course, Cat's Eyes with either a lantern or torch also makes dungeons significantly brighter, and the secondary light source can be turned off. Cat's Eyes takes whatever light is available and increases it.

Unless you use shields, in which case you can't use torches or lanterns.
