Magick Users & Weapons
Magick Users & Weapons
Which weapon do you use when playing a wizard? Or you only go with casting magic?
I want to train my Magick User with something to protect himself when run out of spells. What weapon I would pick up?

Re: Magick Users & Weapons
Something light weight because otherwise you have to swap a weapon from your hand to inventory if want to cast any spells including ones to improve your weapon damage. Bows are one option since you still have a light weight range attack to give you time to flee. Downside is you can't use a torch so predator sight is very important.
Bludgeoning or unarmed combat if you want to open containers and/or doors without wasting mana.

As far as light weapons go, I suggest a named weapons, as none are more than 4 pounds. They all have fairly good combat stats too.
Bael's Delight (End game) does Magick damage too.

When I am playing as a Mage, I always pick either Unarmed Combat or Piercing Weapons for my Melee option. It makes sense to me to focus on things that don't weigh much for that sort of character.

My most succesful character (the one I used to complete the game with) had no melee weapons, until doing "Exterminator". After that I just lugged Hexedge with me, with <10 skill points in Cleaving.

Then I will go for bows. Someone remember if there was a bows trainer somewhere during the adventure?

The Ranger in the forest West of Everdale teaches bows.Nevermore wrote:Then I will go for bows. Someone remember if there was a bows trainer somewhere during the adventure?

Assuming you're not going for pacifist, she also offers the (arguably) best bow in the game, Warmoth.Kreador Freeaxe wrote:The Ranger in the forest West of Everdale teaches bows.Nevermore wrote:Then I will go for bows. Someone remember if there was a bows trainer somewhere during the adventure?
The bow in Zeblin's chest is also a good one though.

For a magic user, Warmoth is better because it's much lighter as I recall.Vroqren wrote:Assuming you're not going for pacifist, she also offers the (arguably) best bow in the game, Warmoth.Kreador Freeaxe wrote:The Ranger in the forest West of Everdale teaches bows.Nevermore wrote:Then I will go for bows. I typically don't go for a bow with a wizard, since the mage has mostly ranged attacks anyway. It's a melee alternative that you want. Can't rely on sonic blast to make your escape all the time, after all.

I totally agree that you are going to need a melee weapon to complement your ranged spells. And, don't forget that arrows are heavy!Morgan Terror wrote:I typically don't go for a bow with a wizard, since the mage has mostly ranged attacks anyway. It's a melee alternative that you want.
