When you have a cartography skill of 0 the map completely disappears when the spell wears off.
When you have a cartography skill of 1, the map remains in full color and is not overwritten. It redraws the borders but it is not noticeable.

I'm afraid that mine was – running 10.4. I went wandering around with a pair of sandals and then took them off. Overwritten and erased. Bummer. Actually I finished the game with the Scout sandals on.

Works fine on a Mac
The map is not overwritten in the mac version. Seems odd that something that is this difficult to fix would work fine on another platform...

Love the game, but how 'bout more display options?
I would love to run this thing at my laptop's native screen resolution (1440 x 900) but am forced to choose between sharp, crisp graphics in a tiny little window or large fuzzy graphics in full screen.
At least consider making the window resizeable when running in windowed mode.
