Is the Academy in Port Kukalakalaka the one with the row of guards?

Because my quest book says to go to the port and show the hourglass to a man but I cannot, for the life of me, find the Academy??

I have decided to re-start. I am the type of player who explores every nook and cranny. I play to enjoy, not for the rankings at the end.

I have a bunch of questions. I plan to play an overall 'pure' mage. I envision roleplaying a character who relies almost exclusively on magic to get things done ...

Okay I took Alchemy at the start for my pure mage.

However, I do not see any ingredients in the wilderness and buying them is more expensive in the end than just buying what they would make?

For example I need Ambergis and Mandrake to make a mana potion - but haven't seen ambergis anywhere ...

So is intelligence really needed? What would be the minimum intelligence for a decent pure mage?

Do I need alchemy if I plan to get a high perception and meditation regen rate? Will I still need alchemy as a primary skill choice?

Last question: do I need any Divine magic for healing or can I make ...

So just to clarify one thing: if I raise Perception to 38 do I need to worry about the meditation skill or leave it alone?

Put most points in Perception; do I need to put points in Intelligence initially?

I'm playing a nefarious character so I had refused to help some sickie in the wilderness but will go do that!

I am curious - I explored the Ossuary but came to a gate with no way through.... How does one get past that chokepoint?

I have gotten the Crux, visited the mage in the tower and have 2 of the goblin keys. Most of the quests I have left are in the southern part of the map but I cannot find any way into it??? The massive gate is barred and Darkford is closed to me....

In combat, at night, not hiding in shadows, the percentages shown are, for example:

Thug 26% Me 67%

I'll hit maybe 2 times out of 5 sometimes 3

The thug? Almost 80%. Not sometimes. Always.

Every monster I meet does this... and it is consistent. They hit at a 75-95 ...

In a land rife with political intrigue, war etc. why not make the missions much more of the:

1) Plant evidence or break a frame

2) Follow and assassinate someone

3) factional "hits" and wars that feel like they matter to the game world

4) Diplomatically win over others (factions or leaders) to a ...
