Did you read the note in the abandoned house at the beginning of the game? What about the note in Maddock's house in Aridell? Interesting. I have the note from the Abandoned House but when I went to Maddock he didn't respond other than chatting. So I went back to his house and simply opened the che...

Odd Quest Bug

I was playing a newly rolled character (24-inch iMac, OS X 10.4.10) and for some reason it isn't triggering the NPCs to offer quests. 1. The grave keeper at Eversleep never offered me a chance for the key or to clean his basement. The only way I could get in to the Eversleep crypt was to bash the do...

These are cool!

I know that this level of sophistication adds time and cost to the game, but it sure does add ambience.

This was fun. As I struggle to get my primary character past one raptor or taurex at a time, it was a blast to have a first-level character wearing Demi-God gear to destroy a raptor with one pulverizing swing of a sword. Revenge is sweet. Nice interface. My main character is on a 10.4.11 iMac, so I ...

I think this is an excellent example of why Eschalon is so well done: (1) enough nuggets like this one to make us go back and re-explore areas again, sure to find something new (good thinking, developers), and (2) a players' community in which questions ranging from sublime to patently obvious can b...

Believe me, Dragonlady, I think about Monty Haul everytime I survive a major battle in Eschalon and walk away with 4 GPs or some willowsap!

It's an honor to be in such august company!

At level 10, you shouldn't be in Baron's Thicket. I'll say no more. :? Great! Glad to hear I'm an overachiever AND a whiner! Seriously, I appreciate your suggestion that I am in over my head here, but unless I have completely missed something (a skill at which I excel) I need to be in Baron'...

It's an honor to be among the Undead geezers on this forum, who were probably adults as I was when they played Wizardry on their Apple ][+ for the very first time, or Might and Magic on their Apple ][c for the first time, (or maybe Fool's Errand on their Mac SE for the first time---did I mention Bar...

Thanks, Culmination! I appreciate everyone's helpfulness (I didn't know such a web site existed. Boy, do I feel dumber than a bag of hammers...). Here's the image link: http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/3523/osmophotohe8.th.jpg Since I took this screen shot I tried Level 6 Entangle on raptors and m...

I have made a TIFF image of the screenshot for you but don't have any web-based URL to place the image for posting here. I'd be happy to e-mail it, but the TIFF file is pretty large. (As you can guess I am not very tech-savvy in using a computer for more than playing Eschalon!).

These suggestions are very helpful. I was able to improve my Alchemy enough to add +1 to my Mithril long sword, but am still struggling. I have got to be missing something very obvious. I got all protected with Stoneskin, Ogre Strength, Haste, and Bless, and then fought a single raptor. I started wi...

I have had the same experience and could benefit from some specific solutions or recommendations. My character is an adequate fighter and has most of the divination spells, as well as some magic spells. He has 110 HPs and 58 mana points, and was not well developed in the early levels (my first chara...

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I have actually begun moving through the world with more confidence and accomplishments, and just finished Grimmhold. Not a cake walk, but I have accrued some cash and a few good items, and have used divination and elemental at a good basic level. Now if I could ju...
