only if you create a few. even if there wasn't much money to be made from it, it's still broken the way it is.

Re: Feats and Weapon Skills Discussion

What if the sword feat had a bleed effect (snip)
imo piercing should get that. piercing's 2 hits is also fairly weak. sure the hits can crit but how often does that happen. considering that it's melee and there's no trainer one would expect more from piercing. also hit and run seems more akin to a ...

Re: Changes I'd personally like.

speaking of alchemy, skills should also not be dependent on each other. as it stands now there isn't any other reliable source for reagents aside from foraging. quantity and variety from stores are both crap. granted foraging in the game is real good, however that isn't a reason for alchemy to ...

Re: True healer challenge [SPOILER]

I searched the forums before posting this as a bug and I have to say I disagree with the implementation. Rather than "a major game challenge", it feels merely counter-intuitive and illogical.
I think so, too. I actually like your suggestion more than the current implementation bec. it would add a ...

Re: More money or More quests needed

I'm a little surprised, myself, at my cash flow. I don't buy all the armor I can possibly wear, putting more emphasis on a good weapon, and I find that beginning enemies (dragonels and outlanders are easy, but molds with their ranged attacks and AI are harder) don't hit me often enough to bother ...

Re: No game balance/cheat codes needed to level the field

Magic has always been easier. The difference is that you get no experience using magic versus thief skills. Plus you only need lock picking to 12 to do difficulty 9 doors and 15 if you want the difficulty 10 doors that lock melt doesn't work on.
i had lockpiking at 12 prettly early and still broke ...

Re: No game balance/cheat codes needed to level the field

while I don't like the idea of cheat codes, skills in the game do need a lot of work for the sake of balance. take for example defensive skills :

dodge: 1% per point to dodge an attack, +accuracy vs dodged enemy
light armor: approximately 0.8% per point to reduce damage by half
heavy armor ...

Re: Damage Reduction from armor skill

yes only the head, torso and leg armor counts. I've been trying to find if there are other factors that affect DR & haven't really found any so far, seems like only skill level counts.

btw, is DR percentage?

edit: oh wow this sucks. did some more testing with light armor & DR. I had 4 skeleton ...

Damage Reduction from armor skill

I tried searching but didn't find any info on this so I did some testing myself. I dunno if this is already present in the boards somewhere, anyway just sharing. I took a hex editor and noted DR change with light armor and heavy armor skills. quality of armor seems irrelevant as long as its the ...

Why put classes in at all then.

Some of the suggestions mentioned are quite good, but IMO a class specific bonus is the easiest and best way to differentiate the classes. It will definitely add flavor to the game.

Skill balancing also has a lot to do with it. That's more important IMO.

I see you've spread your skills a bit there. Choose 1 armor type and stick with that. You can survive easily until Crakamir with only 1 point in an armor type (I did til I got a book for Light Armor. now I have 3 points in it). I recommend heavy as that suits your character.

Cartography is good ...

Your other stats are also a little low. IMO a beginning of 14 in your "primary" stats (based on the way you play) is essential. As a Paladin Id say those should be STR, DEX, END and PER. 14 or better starting SPD and WIS will also help, but not really essential. Based on my experience with long ...

The PC selectable portraits is my only complaint though, rest of the game is just beautiful. Good thing they let us use custom portraits. Let's see some contributions, I'm sure others will appreciate it. 8)

Potraits

Am I the only one who finds the default portraits in the game fugly. Searched for a thread with the keyword portrait and didn't find any.

Here are three photos I used while playing the game. 1st and 2nd I cut from some images found by Googling. I'd credit the artists but I don't remember them. 3rd ...
