You don't seem to take into account that these "utlimate" weapons can all be imbued as well (for both tohit and damage). How can the weapon with the highest base damage not be the best?
I agree with you on the armor though. It's usually best to get something with a skill or attribute ...

Re: The benefits of delayed gratification (semi-spoilery)
One thing that I started doing, along these same lines, is to not spend all of my skill points during character creation.
During creation, you can't put more than 5 points in any one skill (6 for the class skill). When you level up though, there is no such restriction.

Finally Finished!
I finally finished last night.
I really enjoyed the game, and look forward to Book II. You guys really nailed what you were shooting for, as I think you've perfectly captured the "old school" RPG feel that you were going for.

Re: If you achieve Destroyer, post here [spoilers]
Just finished the game last night. Did all three endings, with destroyer last.

Re: easter egg missing
3rd easter egg is definitely in the ossuary. Look in the northern part of the map, near the number-locked coffin. There is a room near there with 4 empty chests in it, and a plaque over each chest.
Solving the puzzle in that room reveals the easter egg.
For the other, you're looking for the ...

Also: Doesn't anybody have an answer to my question? If you're not a Healer or a Magick User: which trait raises your mana points? Intelligence or Wisdom?
Don't have the answer to this one, but I have an answer to your other one. The stump contents are definitely class-dependent. Both the Healer ...

The two "magic-based" classes...
It seems to me that the distinction between the two magic using classes (MagickUser and Healer) really aren't that great. Sure, they are split right down the middle with the two distinct skills, spell inventories and critical stat (wisdom vs. Intelligence), but the whole thing seems kind of ...

I haven't played far enough to know the answer to this, but I do know that you'll need to reveal which two eggs you have found, if you want to be told where just the third one is

Re: Weather and Lighting Ideas
Just something that occurred to me. I don't think I've ever seen a game that included moon phases.
had to chime in on this one-- ultima 5 (1988) had phases of the moon, it determined where you would go when you stepped into a moongate.
The first Ultima game that had phases of the moon was ...

Ideas for character generation
I saw that a couple of people commented on this, both here in the form and (for example) in Scorpia's review.
It seems that there are two common complaints about the process:
1. You're incented to just reroll over and over until you get a good set of stats
2. There isn't much variety amongst the ...

Re: 3 skill points = 1 skill?
I'm playing through my first game and I'm at level 5. So far, every time I've leveled, I've lost all three skill points each time I added a skill.
Yes, from my understanding. The first point in a new skill costs 3 skill points. From that point though, each additional point in a particular skill ...

A Newcomer!
Hi all,
I learned of this game during a chance visit to Penny Arcade (and from there to greenhouse), but am not too frequent a visitor of either.
Was a big fan in the old days of the games you pay tribute to, especially Ultima, and Played the demo to death this week while traveling back and forth ...
