Re: Avadon: The Black Fortress
The idea of making adventures using the graphics and interface of A1-A3? No thanks, man. Jeff said in his latest interview that he's going to update the first Avernum trilogy to the A6 engine and graphics (and he's going to add and fix some things throughout the entire game). That will be great ...

Re: Avadon: The Black Fortress
I think it's safe to say that Avadon will have walking animations, based on part of a screenshot of the game. If you look closely at this character, you can see the legs in a walking position that seems very unlikely to be the standing frame. I'm not certain, but for me this pretty much confirms ...

Re: Avadon: The Black Fortress
There are some things that throw me... I mean, "Keeper Redbeard?" Gee, I wonder where he got that name from?
But other than some of the names, this sounds like it's going to be a cool game. And visually I think it will be the best game Spiderweb has ever produced... if one can judge anything from ...

Re: RPG's for MAC
Anyway, what do you all think of Wesnoth - is it worth getting into at some point? Do you mean is it worth playing or worth joining the community/project? As far as playing goes Wesnoth is awesome, not only because it's a fun game to play, but also because there is a constant stream of new user ...

According to that interview, the game will have a three-member party, and will be based more on the Geneforge engine than the Avernum one.

Re: Avadon: The Black Fortress
It looks more like the Geneforge setting than Avernum to me, which only gives me hope that Jeff puts the Geneforge movement system in... not that Avernum was necessarily bad exactly, but... you know... Geneforge seemed more realistic and more graphically enhanced because of the walking animations ...

Re: Collaborative marketing
Well we made it, and Book 2 ended up costing about twice as much as Book 1 did to develop. So now we need sales, and that means we need everyone who wants to see the series continue to spread the word. Click it, Digg it, Tweet it, post it...whatever you can do to share the love. You've had and ...

Congrats BW
I just downloaded the mac version of Book II last night and I'm very impressed... it's even better than I'd expected (and I was expecting quite a lot). Fantastic gameplay, story, visuals, music, sound, and the main menu... I especially love the new menu. 8) Congratulations on this BW, you did a ...

Re: RPG's for MAC
Apparently Jeff's thinking about going back at some point and updating Avernum 1, porting it into the new engine and giving it the latest graphics and sounds. I hope he does, because as it currently stands I really can't play any of his earliest games for longer than five minutes... I honestly can't.

Re: RPG's for MAC
I have played all of the Avernum games Have you played the Geneforge series? They all run natively on Mac, and they are made by Spiderweb Software, the same company that developed Avernum. Nethergate: Resurrection is another Spiderweb Software RPG game that runs natively on Mac, although its engine ...

Summoning Wars
Summoning Wars is a FOSS 3d RPG game that features single-player and multiplayer (up to 8 players). I'm not sure what it's like, since it's unavailable for OS X at the moment, but I know the 0.5 beta is playable and it's available for Windows and Lunix.

Re: OSARE, a new interesting RPG engine
Considering the name of the engine is "Open Source Action Role Playing Engine" and you can freely download the source code, I'd say your guess was pretty on the spot.
Dang, I missed that... somehow... :P
It looks like it could have a lot of potential, but it's still far away from any sort ...

OSARE, a new interesting RPG engine
Currently this project is barely started in terms of development, but it seems to be doing quite well in the graphics department (actually they remind me of Eschalon). Some of my friends from The Battle for Wesnoth forums are assisting in the creation of media, which is how I found out about it ...

Yes!BasiliskWrangler wrote:Spot Hidden is very valuable in Book 2. Lots and lots of hidden items, and quite a few more traps which are no fun to stumble upon.
