No, you can just soldier on regardless, although he was going to give you some clues as to where to go next. Way Way South is the eventual answer - just go kill everything that seems to want to kill you and it'll all come out right in the end. You probably need to go visit the mage's tower (middle o...

Alchemy is good, Cartography is required, but you can learn both these from trainers and books so don't dump too many points in. Key thing, IMO, is to be able to at least cast 'heal' on yourself. You may also have failed to notice (I did) that the starting stats are random (and you can re-roll them)...

Ok, off topic, but as long as you have clean underwear on, have y'all seen the Lord of the Rings meets D&D cartoon strips at Shamus Young, _DM of the Rings_ http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?cat=14 You have to have read the book, seen the movies, and played D&D I guess, but I thoug...

I agree; The game is (or should be) barely troubling the CPU or graphics card on a modern PC (e.g. one that can run Oblivion, Witcher, whatever) unless it is coded in interpreted Cobol or something. If the walking speed is limited by CPU/graphics speed then some optimising is needed, but I bet it's ...

As far as I know you have to take the quest (and do it, and cheat him) to get the second encounter with him and his chums. If you decline the quest, or never complete it, nothing happens, and no, it doesn't affect the main line in any way.

There is nothing through there needed to finish the game. There is an opening which appears leading off to the South, to a cave of treasure. You can probably see some of it in the map even if you can't get to it. Not sure what you are doing wrong .. nobody else (as far as I know) has failed to open ...

? The two way symmetrical answers are only

00 00 11 11
00 11 00 11
00 00 11 11

Where 1 and 0 are the two switch positions. And the right answer is one of the middle two.

Yes, taken on Dec 20th - actually it's two pictures photo-shopped together, the two bushes (Holly, and Ivy) were not quite close enough to get them in one photo! I walked 21 miles and the temperature didn't get above freezing all day.

If you rest inside someplace with the door shut you can at least avoid getting swarmed in your sleep (since patch 1.2 or 1.3, anyway). I found the monster spawning slowed down when I got to higher levels .. just when they started to drop worthwhile loot. 8>.

Yep, he pretty well summed it up there, which is what I've been struggling to say while moaning about how 'pure warrior' and 'pure mage' both royally suck, for different but similar reasons, and why sticking an extra X points into armor or picklock or whatever doesn't seem sane.

Search the forum, this is an FAQ and answered in several different threads. The right setting is symmetrical in both directions, which doesn't leave you many choices (but heck there were only 64 to start with - a proper 'old school RPG would have at least 1024, or the switches would be in different ...

Presumably they've BEEN to that place if they can claim 'mixed up quest order' rather than just 'too much gratuitous mayhem'. 8>.
