Maybe. But, BlitzMax just rides on top of your OS and communicates via standard system protocols. The underlying code communicates with the filesystem just like any other piece of software, through the OS.CrazyBernie wrote: ↑October 26th, 2017, 8:31 pm... it's possible the Blitzmax engine isn't friendly with this type of storage medium (?).

Well a quick Google search on "Windows 10 Steam read write error" reveals several recent posts:

Re: Game crashes on startup (Windows 10)
The eb3.cfg gets dumped into the %APPDATA%\Basilisk Games\Book 3 Saved Games\ folder along with the save slots. If you delete it it'll act like a new install but that tmp folder seems to prevent it from doing anything else. So the way it works is, when you play your game, Eschalon writes all map &a...

Re: Game crashes on startup (Windows 10)
I know where the files were installed. I tried running the .exe file as administrator, but nothing changed. I don't think an .ini file was created. Is there another way to switch to openGL? Um, no it's going to default for DirectX on a Windows machine unless it finds a OpenGL flag in the .ini, but ...

Re: Game crashes on startup (Windows 10)
Hmmm...Bernie, can you run the .exe. as Adminstrator, see if that fixes it? (EDIT) Oh, sorry I misses the part where you said you tried it. Honestly, I do not have a Windows 10 machine in the office! I run Windows 8.1 and a Linux distro for all my development. I will probably get a copy of Wi...

Re: Game crashes on startup (Windows 10)
Book 3's engine is essentially identical to Book 2, so I don't think it is a compatibility issue. I wonder if you could find where Steam installed the game, and run the .exe as "Administrator". It may be having a problem building the save-game folders or creating the initial .ini file. If ...

Re: The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017
The Rogue Profiteer Sounds cool. I'd give this title a 4 out of 5 stars. The Realm Protectors. Too fantasy sounding. Rating: 3 / 5 Tax Returns Protector Man, this doesn't sound like a fun game at all! Rating: 1 / 5 The Red Planet Seems like a low-effort attempt at a title. Rating: 2 / 5 The ____ Wo...

Well, the initials are "TRP", so you're going to be way off on these guesses. Though I do admit the first word is "The".Painted Lady wrote: ↑October 8th, 2017, 8:59 pm Okay, I can't stand not taking a bit of a guess - sort of....

Re: The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017
We just finalized the name for our sci-fi RPG! The initials are TRP, which will be revealed soon-ish. Logos are in the works now. I need to secure the domain name this next week.
TRP is a placeholder where ZATMOS was.

Re: Won't open - ERROR: gfx.pak missing
Hey. In case anybody else has this problem, I found that the following worked for me. Right-click on the eschalon_book_1.app icon and select Show Package Contents. Open the folder Contents, then open the folder MacOS and open the object eschalon_book_1. The game should run as usual. Where did you d...

Re: The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017
So is Zodiac dead? Well, no... but it's showing no signs of life at the moment. The project has been packed up and moved off my development workstation while I focus on the next RPG. I'll likely eliminate references to it on the main website to avoid ongoing queries about it. I'll review the projec...

Re: The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017
Great to hear the RPG is coming along. I can't wait to play it! Maybe you'll need testers soon? I'll not need outside testers for a little while, but I might benefit from some very early (alpha) play testing, just to get some reaction from you core fans. This would entail UI testing and feedback on...

Re: The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017
There is definitely a storyline that could continue past where the game ends, but I am not promising anything until I see how well it does financially.Painted Lady wrote: ↑August 23rd, 2017, 8:59 amOne question - is this to be a stand-alone game or a series of books like Eschalon?

The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017
The State of the Basilisk, Summer 2017 Just a quick update to let everyone know what were doing (this is so much easier than answering individual emails and messages). We are currently working on our Next RPG. Maybe you haven't heard, but we're making a sci-fi RPG and it's coming along splendidly. ...
