Best use of skill points is your weapon skill. Best use of stat points is perception if you're going to use any magic, or endurance if you're not. Swords are the best melee weapons. There are some good ones as hard coded loot. Otherwise you just have to hope to find good random treasure and shop ite...

BW asked me to get some modules to compile on the latest version of BlitzMax, which I did by cheating and finding updated versions of them on the web. Even then, and commenting out a bunch of non-essential code, he wasn't able to get Eschalon to build. So nothing too exciting, I'm afraid.

As I said, I'd be willing to work on getting the code working on the latest BlitzMax.
I would hope that if we could get it to build, the benefit would be to let fans keep the games alive - release builds for recent OSes, port Book 1/2 to the Book 3 engine, support mods, etc.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but it looks like this person makes heavy use of hide in shadows to avoid combat. They still have to kill two Goblin Warlords, though, which I didn't bother trying to find in the video to see how they did it. I guess the minimal process would be: Steal the crypt key G...

I had lots of cool ideas for mods, but I feel like it's just not possible to do much that's interesting without more mod support in the engine. New art, new characters, new enemies - all of that's not possible as the situation currently stands. I don't blame BW for not wanting to spend limited time ...

Just to attacks, not spells. They do affect unarmed attacks, though, and will cause them to damage enemies that resist non-magical attacks.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my Book III mod if you attempt it. You'll have to be a pure mage or near to it to have all the spells you'll need to get through.
