The Drunken Lizard Pub

I've only begun playing Book I today, but maybe I am missing something. When I am holding the shield, I get error messages if I try to use a torch or switch to my bow.

I can certainly understand why, because I only have two hands, but it is really awkward and annoying to have to open the equip ...

I drank it, too, moments after I got it from Father Michael's chest. However, it instantly poisoned me, and I died a few turns later.

Not sure if that was a bug or what... seemed odd that a potion designed to heal would poison you. I had Dungeon Fever at the time, you see, and hoped it would heal ...

Or do I have to start over?

I'm enjoying the demo, but if I have to start over, then I'd rather just purchase the full game now.
