I'm deeply against voice-acting in RPGs. It just makes game bigger and more expensive to produce. I usually turn off all sound & music in games, because they irrate me, but that's just me. But bad voice-acting can really kill a game. I hated every second of cut-scenes in HoMM V, because actors ...

First try - Debian Linux 4.0 running on VmWare. Game depends on libstdc++.so.5, but most modern Linux distributions only have version 6 by default as far as I understand. It's easy to obtain it, but it should be somewhere in documentation, I think... Or you may try to compile with static library ...

I say keep isometry. It's one of the features that made me but Eschalon - I like isometric view much more than any other option. As for time it would take to rewrite engine... Well, I prefer to wait for a game of my dreams, than get someting inferior earlier

As I understand, writing anywhere, but to "My Documents" would require additional permissions on Vista. I remember reading some MS document, "requirements for Vista-compatible games", which stated that game should only write to User's folder, but never to registry or own folder.

I've only played a demo so far (going to buy full version after I complete my diploma work for University ;) ), but I have 2 ideas:

1) Make combat more complex. May be allow to aim for body parts (like in Fallout), or use more complex system with counter-attacks, threat zones etc. (like in Temple ...

Well, releasing sources in a few years would be a great idea. Runesword done so, and it was good... Probably, sources for Book I should be released if Basilisk Games ever get to Book III
