Have been right through the rest of the level, but next to a line of three clams I find two sealed iron gates with no apparent way of getting beyond.
It looks like the 4 chest puzzle of book 2, is it? What am I missing?

I've managed without a crash today- knock wood!
But I'll look to upgrade the OS version, anyway.

I'm running MacOs 10.5.8 on a 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 mac with 3 GB memory.
I got book 3 this morning, and I've had a dozen crashes today while it's been running.
Sometimes, it's a screen freeze, sometimes a straight crash.
I've always done at least one restart before opening Book 3 again.
This ...

I find that Siam in Blackwater's first magic attack causes my Eschalon 1 to "quit unexpectedly" every time, whether playing full- screen or windowed.

I'm using the pre-seeded option, meaning that in this game it will certainly take more than 67 goes. I suppose I must find more lock picks!
I haven't had much luck with lock melt spells before, so I haven't learned that one in this game.

I have Pick Locks skill of 10, and I have still failed to open a "masterful adamantium lock" after 67 attempts. The lock picks all break on the third tumbler of this special, hidden, trapped item. Nor can one apparently bash the damn thing open.
Is this an unopenable lock?

The quest to seek your brother in Vela, I got there and he was missing! Is this a bug, or did i just not get there in time?
Can I still complete the rest of the game?

Will definitely need another game to solve it, then, as I can't remember where the map came from. I think I've even thrown it away now out of pure frustration.
I did find a spot near a bridge with similar looking rocks, and scouted around pretty extensively there but no joy at all.

Now, about that pesky treasure map....

I came to realise that too many kegs lying around could be as bad as too few!
I spent ages arranging the kegs along the corridors only for Nasty to run away and regenerate as soon as he saw them.
So instead, I put them all in the caves and the crystal room, and actually carried them towards him ...

A level one fire dart spell will do it as well!
