I have this very same problem on the Steam version.

My guess is that it affects saved games.

Any update ?

'cause I don't see the point in going through book 2 and 3 if I can't complete book 1...

I missed the black friday sale by one day :cry:
I can only afford one of the two games and logging in onto steam every day just to see if I'll be able to get both of them "for the price of one"...
