I didn't have a problem with playing as ranger. It works pretty good, just make sure you have a little bit in melee in case you should run out of arrows, with the patch it is fine since the merchants have ample supply of arrows!

Thinking it over I've realised I do not think there is much point in reworking the system for book 1, just consider this balance for book 2 instead! The only thing to maybe fix in book 1 would be so some attack spells could make more damage, the buff spells are already powerful enough.

How about ranger, and rogue ? I found the ranger to be powerful, especially since you can outrun most monsters,, rogue is much harder to play though.

It looks like a lot of people trying the demo buys the game, I'll try to put it on some download sites.

hmm, some spells are kind of overpowered like lock-melt reveal map, predator sight, turn-undead, enhance weapon, etc etc. so if you are a mage you don't need to spend any skill points in skills like cartography skulldaggery, pick lock etc etc etc.
