Re: Less than twenty four hours to go...
I have to admit that in the meantime I lost sight of Book III. However, I knew that I will pick this game up the day I first read about it. And here I am now. I’m really looking forward giving Book III a whirl.

Re: Your First Character Playing Book III?
My first build will almost certainly be a ranger, as always. :) Bows. Maybe an axe (depending on how the feats stack up this time) for chopping things open, inanimate or animate. I've always enjoyed harassing tactics more than straight up assault. :) Same here albeit by experience this can make the...

Re: linux version for amd64
You should be able to run Eschalon on a 64bit system alright. All you have to do is install the needed 32bit libs. If I'm not mistaken, the latest Ubuntu releases seem to even come with some 32libs pre-installed already.
I play Eschalon: Book I on a 64bit ArchLinux system. No problems

Re: Registration Numbers
Everyone just needs to stop, take a deep breath, examine their codes, and enter them one key at a time... maybe even taking a break between each letter/number. It's okay people, you'll get to bask in the glory that is Book II. Just have a little patience. Pfew! Thanks mate, that really did the tric...

Re: 1.05 Can't See My Saved Games
Yep, have to agree. I was a little confused as well when I realised that the save folder is now a regular instead of a hidden folder (like before). I'd prefer the save games to be saved in a hidden folder again as well.

Re: New Eschalon Interview
Very good and informative read. And while I'm looking forward to Eschalon: Book II, the thing that got me thrilled most is the following: 11. After Eschalon: book 2, what is the plans for Basilisk Games? Of course we are going to be focusing on wrapping up the trilogy with Book III, but we will also...

Re: Possibility of a 64-bit binary?
Sorry to bring this topic up again. But what I was somehow missing when I tried to get Eschalon: Book I running on my 64-bit system was a notice which 32-bit libraries exactly are needed to make it work. Since I was in a similar situation for another program I tinkered around a little and though I m...

Hello DetlevH!DetlevH wrote: Anyone who wants to help me?
Even though I will always play Eschalon in English, I'd be glad to help you out with the German translation. In fact, I have just started to translate the creature profile of the Catacomb Rat.
So if you're still interested, send me a pm.

Re: News Item: January 28, 2009 - A sample of Book II's music
I totally agree with all the others here, the track is fantastic! Really makes me looking forward for Book II. Btw., thanks for your great and friendly support towards Linux users. Even though I can play all kind of formats -- including MP3 -- just fine, I really appreciate your support- and I think...

Re: Possibility of a 64-bit binary?
Well, it's not quite as simple as that, sadly... What in this life ever is? ;-) I didn't mean to say that it is easy to make all software available for 64bit systems as well, or that you can switch "just like that". But seeing that a lot of the hardware available nowadays in the consumer ...

Re: Possibility of a 64-bit binary?
Besides that, I doubt Eschalon will ever need more then 4Gb of memory, so there's not much advantage to having a 64 bit version... The issue is more not having the hassle of having to set up a duplicate environment on a 64-bit system to allow all those 32-bit applications to run. The move to 64-bit...

Re: Strange Error - Unable to calculate tex sizeappstub
Thanks alot for all your help! The above mentioned snippet posted by Getharn led me to the assumption that this error has something to do with the Biltz engine. I have already tried some different configurations but no luck. Thanks for pointing me to the new demo, BasiliskWrangler. I have tried it b...

[SOLVED] Strange Error - Unable to calculate tex sizeappstub
Hello! I'm trying to run Eschalon on Arch Linux 64. But when I try to start it I get the following error message that I don't understand: ./eschalon_book_1 Setting sound driver: Default Unable to calculate tex sizeappstub.linux signal handler 11 I have installed all 32bit libraries needed, so that s...

Re: Assassin Idea
Hey, I had the same idea! One night when I finished playing Eschalon Book I and went to bed, I thought about how great it would be to have an Assassin-character in Eschalon. A character that isn't good with long bladed weapons or axes but is a master of short bladed weapons. A character that can sil...
