Hi Folks, I've been out of country for 3 months and was looking forward to starting book 3 :(
Ah well, as I often say to others:
"He who is without expectations can never be disappointed".
Looking forward to it anyway.
Aga.
P.S. I preferred the old website. Bring back some parchment textures!

Note: this is a Mac related post, but I don't know how to move it to the Mac forum :(

Re: Book II Character / Map Editor
Hi SS,
Funny, I was just on-line when I spotted your post. I'll give it a spin for you. It'll be a couple of days though for feedback, work schedule is pretty hectic these days as well as Assassins Creed. I miss the Eschalon world though.

Re: July Update - Book III
Hi BW,
That's great news.
There is a whole bunch of stuff that *can* be figured out using some of the current editors, figure being the operative word.
Having the real editors will be (to use an american word I use too much Awesome!) oh god, loads of information etc., but we need the details of ...

Re: July Update - Book III
Hi Folks,
as this is the final game :( in the Eschalon series, are there any plans for modders? There have been a few save-game and system mods on this forum over the last while.
I was just wondering, as the team moves on to better and brighter games, for those of us who love this world, are there ...

Hi Kansas,
hmm, "lovely" is my first impression of your post.
You have somehow captured my exact experience with the Eschalon series of games.
I was once a die-hard gamer about 20 years ago (Doom, Duke-nukem, all the craze with the whole concept of 'network', but, also Moria - my first real sudo d ...

Spells in a Jar - woud have been nice to suggest last year
I really wish I'd started playing Eschalon a couple of years ago, maybe then there would have been time before Book III comes out to make suggestions.
Anyhow, one thing I wish I could do would be to group spells together and cast them all together. Obviously one turn per spell in game time. I guess ...

Re: Book II Character / Map Editor
Hi Vezinea,
This can be caused, as mentioned by others, by a missing or bad install of X11. From a terminal window please check that your DISPLAY env var is set
$ echo $DISPLAY
this should give something like:
/tmp/launch-opJf7Q/org.macosforge.xquartz:0
You will get your errors with no DISPLAY ...

Hi SShroom,
ok, the new versions work great with both book 1 and book 2 maps.
For reference my install is:
15" MacBook Pro (late 2011) running OS/X 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion)
X11 libraries are *not* installed by default on Mountain Lion so I'm using the recommended XQuartz as detailed here http ...

Hi SShroom,
here's the contents of the Book 1 .app
I've highlighted the most obvious contents. If you need more info like a full file list etc, I can send it to you by PM.

Hi SS, others,
Hmm, interesting. I purchased both Book 1 and Book 2 fron the Mac App Store. Both came as a packaged .app file. No additional files in the game directory. I even had to go inside the .app to get the players manual.

Re: Book II Character / Map Editor
The Book I tools look for 'data.pak' which isn't on my machine - did a find from / to verify.
My Bad :( The Book 1 tools look for gfx.pak, not data.pak.
The B1 Map editor won't start without it. No crash, a clean exit after it says it can't find the file.
I know what the gfx library is. I've ...

I tried them out.
Mac OS/X 10.8.3 MacBook Pro late 2011
apps load ok and both the Character editors both seem to work ok.
The Map editors don't work however.
