Chameleon would help too. I lured quite a few into the desert so I could pick them off 1 at a time, as well.

It doesn't only work on the Hive Queen. Like Ameefu, you can do all sorts of damage with the gunpowder. Unlike him, I didn't try it on the Coast. Dang it, I've slugged it out with them every time. With my monk, my ranger, and a fighter.

Yes, ranged magic works too.

Mac Overwritten - yes

I'm afraid that mine was – running 10.4. I went wandering around with a pair of sandals and then took them off. Overwritten and erased. Bummer. Actually I finished the game with the Scout sandals on.
I did notice though that when I got an amulet that added two more points to my "talent" (up around ...

yup

Apparently rewriting the map is intended. Seems silly to me too. Once I've put the thing on paper I shouldn't need ANY cartographic skills to actually read it or to remember where I've been and what was there.

useful?

Interesting how we approach the game. I have always considered lockpicking vital because it's the easiest way to get to easter eggs, sextant, you name it. Bashing didn't work well for me - took too long and exploded my basher more often than not. I would consider bashing if there was some way of ...

ridding yourself of torches

Apparently not. You can either pack them around, put them into empty sconces, or burn them during those interminable walks back to wherever.

Ossuary pin code

Where do I get the quest that gives me the pin code for the hero's tomb? I thought I'd done everything in this area (except finish the Ossuary).

door found.

Found it. I'd always picked the appropriate lock before so hadn't "found" it.
