I really like the complexity of the character system, which makes it an interesting challenge to try to build the most effective character. I feel like not all builds are created equal, though - magic is pretty clearly more effective than the other options.

I'm not sure that adding more restrictions really makes the game "harder" - it seems to me like the improved loot balances it out.

A more interactive world, ala the Ultima series: more NPCs, more non-combat stuff to do, more interactive items. Of course, high levels of detail are difficult with a small development team, but hey, you asked.

Playing as a pure mage I find things pretty easy. With high MP regen (2/turn currently) and the right spells, you can basically ignore major parts of the game.
