OK, I'm Baffled --- New Player Woes

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

I have actually begun moving through the world with more confidence and accomplishments, and just finished Grimmhold. Not a cake walk, but I have accrued some cash and a few good items, and have used divination and elemental at a good basic level.

Now if I could just get fire bolt or flesh boil or some such attack spell or scroll, and get through all these locks....

But that's for tomorrow!

Just so you know, Flesh Boil does not damage objects.

Oddly enough, I didn't notice Fire Bolt or Flesh Boil in the shops until fairly high level. Maybe around 10-12. I know that is probably not what you wanted to hear, but I figure I should warn you.
