The (Non-Goblin) Keys (was: Revisiting Keys)

Post by IJBall »

I have much the same question as the "Revisiting Keys" topic.

The good news is, I have ID'ed what all but what of the non-goblin keys does:

Thin Key - opens crime scene house in Blackwater
Rusty Key - opens room in Grimmhold with Krista of Bordertown's amulet
Odd Key - ?
Heavy Key - opens up Necrotic Studies Lab in Shadowmirk
Golden Key - opens first Shadowmirk door after 1st floor gate
Gate Key - opens Gate in NE Crakamir
Silver Key - Gramuck's portal door

The one I can't ID is the ODD KEY. I thought it might open the room with the Easter egg on the second floor of the inn in Elderhollow, but I think I tried that and it doesn't work either.

So does anyone know what the ODD KEY opens? (Any have I missed any other keys?)

Thanks!

Hmm... it looks like I got a hold of the thin key too late, since I only managed to access the redroom in Blackwater by picking the lock. I guess I can go ahead and drop the thin key, then, eh?

On that subject: Does anybody remember where the thin key comes from? I don't remember where I found it.

Anyhow: Thanks, IJ. A helpful post.
Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.

I don't remember - if I had to guess, you get it from one of the chests of those bandits/assassins SW of Blackwater.

Yep - just checked the "Fixed Item Compendium" thread - that's where you get it!

You're welcome! :)

I guess I should have checked the "Fixed Item Compendium" earlier - it says the ODD KEY is found in Grimmhold Maintenance Level, and opens up another door in Grimmhold Maintenance Level.

I guess that answers that!

I believe it is found in the building with the hidden back room.

The odd key doesn't open any doors in Grimmhold that I could find. You get it off the goblin that's lurking in the library-type room. Maybe it was meant to open the door to the Chief's room, but if that door was locked then the Chief and his bodyguards would not be able to come out and attack you (maybe?).

The odd key opens a door in Grimmhold, but most of the time one of the wandering goblins opens it for you first. :)

The odd key opens the door to the room that has nothing in it but a trapped chest and a powderkeg. Finally!

Follow up to my original post - here's all the keys I've managed to find in Book I:

Door Key - opens door in Elderhollow cellar
Thin Key(1) - opens later door in Elderhollow cellar
(path branch, right side)
Brassy Key - opens door in NE of Elderhollow cellar
Crypt Key - opens Eversleep Cemetery
Security Key - opens door in NE Eversleep Cemetery
Rusty Key - opens room in Grimmhold with Krista of Bordertown's amulet
(goblins usually open it for you!)
Odd Key - opens door in Grimmhold Maintenance Level
(goblins usually open it for you!)
Bent Key - opens (other) chest in Thieves' Lair in Whistling Cave
(i.e. the "hive" cave in C. Tangletree)
Thin Key(2) - opens crime scene house in Blackwater
(found in 1st house in Blackwater, w/ secret door)
Heavy Key - opens up Necrotic Studies Lab in Shadowmirk
Golden Key - opens first Shadowmirk door after 1st floor gate
Gate Key - opens Gate in NE Crakamir
Fancy Key - opens NE Ossuary door leading to Lorus of Eastleaf's tomb
Silver Key - Gramuck's portal door

I think that's it!
