Geneforge 5 (Mac) is out.

I've only sampled the demo for about 15 minutes so far...seems fun. I'll get more time on it this weekend.

The fight for retro king begins.

Ding Ding. Let Mortal Kombat Begin. *insert techno beat*

Seriously I just booted er up for a bit here at work and Vogels outdone himself this time, the game scales perfectly on my 22" 1680x1050 monitor. Classic gameplay, classic graphics, just tiles out to the edge of my monitor. Amazingly NeAT.

Probably will get done with this right around the tyme Book II is out. MOAR neat.

I've been beta testing it for 4 months and it's a different game from the earlier ones. Lots of changes to the spells and you get a different perspective now that you meet the Shaper Council and the Rebel leaders.

It was an early Xmas present for my son for taking such good care of me. He's busy playing it now and gets a bit miffed everytime I pull him away for this and that. :D He seems to like it a lot. He has beta tested a number of Spiderweb software but opted out on #5. I've seen some of the screen shoots and the look interesting but not enough to want to play that series. I tried the first and got bogged down.

Except for knowing the past story, you can play the games in any order. GF4 and GF5 have a better game engine that no longer requires more than one action point to still cast a spell or do a combat action. There have been plenty of changes to improve the combat part of the game and fix some complaints from the earlier games. Nicer interface and encumberance is only for items currently worn so the backpack is a bag of holding.
