don't know if it works yet, just downloaded it 20 min. ago and will have to transfer to my laptop.


edit: a bit later...If you have Java, you can play from the download above. It mainly is for handheld devices or PC BUT..it did work on my laptop with the java there. I have an old java on main computer (so my art program will work). The game is pretty primative. There may be a better version out there. I like Game 2 better..confusing as it is.

Indeed I can lad, indeed I can---especially since, with ONE exception, I simply can't deal with ASCII ones despite very clearly being a Roguelike guy. Here we go...large variety in here, some PC, handheld, console:

Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup, Triangle Wizard(the grand exception!), Valhalla/Ragnarok, Transcendence, Mage Guild, LambdaRogue, Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space and the first Journey one, Scallywag: In the Lair of the Medusa, 3069(rare combo of 3D and Sci-fi), Lords of Darkhall, Nazghul, Elona, Mines of Morgoth (I would be so grateful to read detailed impressions of at least the demo since I just can't get it to work on my PC for some bizarre reason...), Deliantra, Crossfire, Prospector, Plague, graphical versions of Nethack, Angband flavors, Wayfarer, Egoboo, SoulFu, Fatal Labyrinth for Genesis, Shiren the Wanderer for SNES and DS, Nightmare of Druaga for PS2, Torneko's/Taloon's Adventure for PSX, Chocobo's Dungeon for PSX and Wii, Pokemon Dungeon games for DS, GBA, Wii

That should last a bit/might easily be more that are slipping my mind. All kinds of stuff in the works from here on out, next biggest NEW commercial effort thus far is 100 Rogues coming for the iPhone hopefully sometime this year and also HOPEFULLY to PC as well at some point.

Okay, I'm stuck. I found a 'hole', the compass indicates it is where obilisk #2 is. I got down to the bottom and found a book. I followed the directions of using a 'seeing' potion and discovered another room with a rock wall between that and the one I'm in. How do I get into the other room? I do have a pick and stealth at 58. I don't have a lightning spell at the moment..not sure where to get one. I've also searched and searched for a secret door and tried going thru the wall. I've held the pick and I've just had it in inventory. Help!

Getter---thanks for the suggestions! I have been looking the games over. Oh, about the word "lad," (grins)...I may be old enough to be your father, if not your grandfather.

Dragon Lady---Ah, me...I am starting over again. I began playing the game with emphasis upon the bow (skill points all upon long ranged weaponry), but somewhere along the lines, I convinced myself that I had made a grave mistake in choosing that method of combat, so...I started over with emphasis (and assigned skill points) upon the sword. Now, at level 50 again, I have found that using the bow is/was much easier for me (game setting still upon hard), so I am going back at it with the bow, even though I must sacrifice a shield in doing so. Trying to remember...I think I got the lightning spell in the snake caves, because there are choices within it as far as which way to go next upon a given floor or two.

I just found a wonderful site when I was trying to find hints, guides, etc. to the game. It has around 15 things to click on to get information about the game. For example, #4 Caves and Dungeons (in the game) and what you might find in them. It has list of weapons, gems, potions, etc. etc. with the pictures of the items.

Check it out below. You'll end up on a page describing the game. On the right hand side a bit down with scrolling you see a list of 15 things, click on each one to get hints about the game. It is not a walk thru, just hints. I'm off now to finish reading what I copied and then play the game.

That is a great find Dragonlady. Timeline wise, fits in decently with the freeware change on it---though I might want to remember to mention that Mac version for the main description page.

No disrespect meant Rush, I tend to use it in general same as "guys" and so on here and there. On the internet in general, it has long been my habit to assume everyone is some manner of ageless entity so as to not horribly confuse myself.

Are you kidding?! I still haven't been able to survive in most of the caves/dungeons let alone trying to take out the real bad guys! Just this evening found the mermaids and got a quest from them. Phew! Is this game hard!

Okay, I can't seem to survive in the dungeons (other than the two city mines) so am giving up trying to finish this game for now. I do like starting out a new character and trying to find the dang cities and villages so may just do that for relaxation until I can play Escalon 2 (beta I hope..soon!)
